  • Overview

    The Solution Architect (SA) III will play a critical leadership role for the definition and implementation of Enterprise solutions. As a project solution architecture owner, the SA is the primary person responsible for delivering solution designs based on business, information and technology viewpoints. The role will collaborate closely with Customers, Business Analysts, Information Architects and Application Engineers to define and propose Enterprise-optimal solutions for the Business’ specified business outcomes. The SA continues to participate actively in the solution delivery process, ensuring continued compliance and alignment with the Enterprise architecture, as well as hands-on implementation of architecturally important capabilities such as enterprise integration services or business process workflow components. As part of this process, the SA is also responsible for creating and maintaining of Solution Architecture artifacts (patterns, component and business process models, information structures, etc.). The SA will maintain their technical skills by delivering assigned build components during the construction phase of the project, will insure quality by reviewing build components, and will test technically complicated system components.

    Functional/Technical Service

    • Associate in this job has a broad understanding of the business and application solution sets, and recommends appropriate technologies to enable business processes across multiple value streams.
    • Development focus for an associate in this role is in understanding key business initiatives, emerging technologies, and contributing to future IT business strategies.


    Education and Experience

    • Master’s or higher level degree or equivalent work experience; information systems or computer related degree preferred. Appropriate related certifications a plus, published work or presenter at conferences.
    • 15+ years of experience as a Solution Architect; 20+ years of experience without a degree.


    • Fully capable of performing all types of architectural and design work, relying on help resources only for unique or rare occurrence tasks.
    • Experience performing other congruent IT roles, i.e., Project Management, Business Analyst, Solution Architect, Data Base Analyst
    • Recognized in the industry as an expert technologist with the ability to teach and train other associates.
    • Educational training and expert experience with many of the following technologies: C#, Relational Database, SQL, TSQL, XSLT, HTML, .Net, X++, Visual Studio, ASP.net, XML, SOAP web services, WCF, and the Microsoft stack.
    • Has worked in a structured Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) environment and is capable of using a variety of development methodology concepts like: Rational, Information Engineering, Yourdon to capture architecture and design related project related information
    • In depth understanding of functional components of a business and target solution sets associated value streams.
    • Ability to work on multiple projects in a matrix team environment.
    • Proven analytical and problem solving skills to assess business processes and technologies and suggest improvement strategies for the process.
    • Capable of organizing individual tasks and managing personal time to complete assignments based on personal commitments.
    • Uses the English language to effectively communicate in both written and verbal formats.
