Overview

The Market Strategist is responsible for performing all aspects of market research within TRIMEDX to help drive the development of sales, go-to-market, portfolio, and solution strategies. This position will be fundamental in developing and executing upon the overall strategy and strategic priorities for TRIMEDX. Through the development and execution of aggressive market research and vigilance processes, the Market Strategist will work to: (1) identify trends and extrapolate needs; (2) collaborate with teams to deliver against needs and (3) work with the Customer Engagement team to identify voice-of customer opportunities to further vet needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide insight to the Solution Development and Solution Delivery teams on all aspects of market and competitive intelligence to support the update of strategy and execution plans.
  • Conduct market research as necessary to supplement existing knowledge, and to validate strategic thinking on trends in the healthcare industry and associated markets in which TRIMEDX solutions are sold
  • Point person for driving a standardized market segmentation and targeting process
  • Work with Marketing Managers to establish metrics for marketing initiatives and leverage these metrics to highlight insights that drive improvements
  • Facilitate activity related to determining the impact of, as well as response to, competitive threats identified through ongoing competitive surveillance including: strategic competitive moves, new solution releases, large contracts signed, M&A activity, etc.
  • Facilitate activity related to determining the impact of, as well as response to, threats or opportunities identified through ongoing industry/market surveillance including: legislative changes, non-traditional market entries, etc.
  • Inform the organization of key dynamics and trends (competitive, market, environmental, etc.).
  • Establish best practices and lead competitive monitoring programs driving insights as it relates to traditional and emerging competitors globally and ensure timely communication on key impacts to TRIMEDX.
  • Conduct environmental scans, organizational positioning analyses, and other studies; Coordinate input to facilitate the integration of individual business unit plans with the broader portfolio plan
  • Conduct rigorous quantitative portfolio and market intelligence analyses; develop insights and communicate recommendations around strategic issues; support analyses with sound data collection
  • Establish partnerships with key stakeholders in the organization (Solution Management leaders, Division Vice Presidents, Client Services, etc.) to further inform decisions that impact strategy development
  • Facilitate various war gaming/scenario planning projects across markets to define strategic maneuvers and opportunities to win against our competitors
  • Participate in the analysis of business development & licensing opportunities or other partnerships intended to strengthen TRIMEDX's position in current markets or new markets that align with our organization’s vision and strategy.
  • Participates in development of the TRIMEDX strategy, including identifying and investigating growth opportunities for entering new markets, technologies, channels and geographies.
  • Play a key role in supporting the annual strategic planning and opportunity analysis process; Coordinate activities related to developing competitive SWOT analysis
  • Support business plan development and rationale for investments in new opportunities/corporate ventures.
  • Drive cross-functional processes to develop robust market & revenue model projections for the portfolio through extensive collaboration
  • Participate in the portfolio strategy governance process with the responsibility of supporting the research required around identifying, assessing and prioritizing new solution opportunities
  • Assist in the development of a portfolio strategy that:
    • Captures all Solution roadmaps and major initiatives
    • Provides a holistic assessment of risk, business performance and alignment with strategic objectives
    • Informs rigorous, fact-based and value-oriented build vs. buy decisions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or clinical related field preferred; 3+ years of experience in Product Marketing, Strategy, and/or Product Management
  • Experience in medical device and/or the broader healthcare industry; Experience within Clinical Engineering or the Management of Clinical Assets is preferred
  • Strategic agility, structured thinking, intellectual curiosity and ability to translate complex concepts into actionable insights
  • Ability to think strategically and participate actively in decision analysis, problem formulation, data collection, model development, and presentations to management
  • Experience in a high performing consulting, strategic planning, or finance environment, demanding a sophisticated approach to understanding strategic needs, financial/market models, competitive trends and business impact
  • Strong project management skills including stakeholder management, effective communication, and driving for results
  • Ability to deduce market needs from key trends within industry or markets
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation communication skills
  • Previous experience in working with senior executives strongly preferred
  • Experience in directly engaging with customers in matters ranging from casual to complex
  • Self-starter that is comfortable taking initiative
  • Proven track record for leading with a collaborative approach
  • Familiarity and comfort functioning in a matrixed organizational environment and the ability to work successfully cross-functionally
  • Ability to deal well in an ambiguous environment
  • Hands-on proficiency with Excel macros, and the potential to use advanced decision support analytical tools (e.g., decision analysis software, optimization, etc.)
  • This role consists of travel of up to 20% or approximately 4 business days per month
