The Instructional Design Consultant designs and develops enterprise and business unit Talent Development programs, including new hire onboarding and training, leadership development, individual development, team development, performance management and change management. S/he partners with Subject Matter Experts and Talent Development colleagues to create innovative and engaging training programs using a variety of delivery methods, such as instructor-led classroom, instructor-led virtual, blended, e-learning, on-line toolkits, etc. The ID Consultant continuously evaluates the effectiveness and impact of programs and implements improvements when needed.


Lead design of innovative and engaging Talent Development programs and processes using ADDIE (or comparable) model of instructional design. (30%)

  • Analyze business/audience needs and conceptualize learning approaches with TD colleagues
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts to gather relevant content and clarify objectives
  • Identify most effective solution and delivery method to address gaps and meet desired outcomes
  • Create learning objectives that are practical, focused and measurable
  • Create program structure, outlines and course story boards

Develop high quality and engaging training programs, including content, simulations, games, videos, surveys, e-courses, web pages, presentations, facilitator guides, participant guides and collateral. (60%)

  • Research content as needed
  • Develop media and other course components
  • Write copy
  • Author e-courses
  • Create pre- and post-assessments to measure learning effectiveness and impact
  • Collaborate and communicate proactively with SMEs and TD colleagues throughout development
  • Test and pilot programs
  • Continually monitor and revise existing courses to incorporate updated content and technology
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects to completion within budget and on schedule

Monitor effectiveness of programs and processes relative to objectives and metrics (10%)

  • Evaluate assessment data and business metrics to measure learning effectiveness and impact
  • Communicate results to stakeholders and SMEs
  • Recommend and implement continuous improvements


Education and Work Experience

  • BA/BS degree in Instructional Design, Adult Learning, Educational/Instructional Technology or related discipline preferred.
  • Project Management experience preferred
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in relevant platforms, such as Microsoft Office suite, Articulate Storyline or Lectora, Microsoft SharePoint, Adobe Connect, Adobe suite, web design, and other instructional design and development software tools
  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in instructional design and program development
